JA South Africa Alumni Pitch Business Ideas at We Connect Conference

30th May, 2018 – We Connect International, a global network that connects women-owned businesses to qualified buyers around the world, hosted a pitching competition for seven JA South Africa Youth Enterprise Development Programme Alumni at their annual conference at EY in Sandton, South Africa. The all female alumni group had the opportunity to pitch their business ideas to a judging panel of We Connect South Africa members who have established businesses.

After an intense and nerve-wracking session of pitches, the judges selected three of the business ideas and awarded cash prizes to the winners. Congratulations to Nthabiseng Tomotomo, Thulile Mbuyane and Annwen Jordan for their three winning pitches.

This was a valuable opportunity for them to practice pitching their businesses in one minute and gain constructive feedback from established businesswomen. They were also fortunate to be invited to attend this conference hosted for members of We Connect South Africa.

WEConnect International in South Africa identifies, educates, registers, and certifies women’s business enterprises that are at least 51% owned, managed, and controlled by one or more women. WEConnect International is the only non-profit organisation in South Africa that provides the seal of certification uniquely to Women Business Enterprises (WBEs), and also, that connects these WBEs with multi-national corporate purchasing organizations across diverse industries. Our signature seal of certification is a formal guarantee to corporations that they are purchasing goods and/or services from South African businesses that meet universal standards for WBEs.
