On June 28, JA South Africa held a virtual town hall meeting under the theme, “Emerging Leaders” to foster network growth and connect JA South Africa alumni to the global JA Alumni community. The emerging leader theme speaks to alumni who have gone through JA Programs and are changing the course of their destinies, be it in the corporate space as professionals or leaders of industry who have taken up entrepreneurship.
At the Townhall, the alumni were introduced to Gather, a platform designed by JA Worldwide which brings together a vast and powerful cohort of young people around the world who share similar experiences of having completed JA’s enriching programs. By Plugging into the greater Gather community of like-minded individuals around the globe, the alumni have access to global opportunities.
The keynote speaker at the event was Miles Kubheka, a JA South Africa alumnus, who is an entrepreneur and author, the poster child for the audacity of hope. Mr. Kubheka founded Wakanda which aims to reduce hunger through outlets like Gcwalisa dispensers which allow customers to purchase food and homecare products at low costs. In his address, he encouraged the alumni community to plug into the global network and seize the opportunities it has to offer.
