JA Gabon & Ministry of Small & Medium Scaled Enterprises take measures to boost Gabonese Economy

Libreville, 27 July 2017 – JA Gabon has been tasked with the mandate to assist the Ministry of Small and Medium Scaled Enterprises (SMEs), in charge of national entrepreneurship, in the creation of incubators in the different sectors of the economic recovery plan.

In order to increase the employability of young people, the Minister for the Promotion of SMEs in charge of national entrepreneurship, Biendi Maganga-Moussavou and the Executive Director of JA Gabon, Radia Garrigues, as well as their teams are working closely to create and develop these incubators. These physical structures will be set up by JA Gabon to assist young entrepreneurs in the creation of companies with high development potential; for instance agriculture in Mouila, the capital of the Ngounié region of Gabon and hydrocarbons in Port-Gentil.

The objective is to improve the competitiveness of our companies through a mechanism that will increase employability. On the one hand, we are targeting young people already trained or out of school, and on the other hand, we are seeking to help develop an environment that fosters the development of relevant entrepreneurial ideas, based on methods, technical know-how, best practices and good governance so that we have successful companies. ” said Biendi Maganga-Moussavou during his visit to Mouila.

JA Gabon, the technical partner of this initiative will deploy all its expertise, experience and know-how so that these structures participate effectively in the revival of the Gabonese economy.

We are delighted to be able to support this initiative, which is now in an operational phase. We will bring the experience, skills and tools of JA on board.” said Radia Garrigues, Executive Director of JA Gabon.

Sectoral incubators will be set up in 2017-2018 with the support of the State, the European Union, governmental institutions and other companies. This project aims to foster the emergence and realization of successful business creation. For the city of Franceville, there will be an incubator for advanced technologies and for Port-Gentil, hydrocarbons. The towns of Mouila (with the Nyonda Makita Technical School in Mouila), and Oyem will each host an incubation area specializing in agriculture.  The goal is to train one hundred young people a  year in employability and entrepreneurship from the beginning of the next school year.
