JA Africa Welcomes Bunmi Banjo as New Board Member

JA Africa is excited to welcome Bunmi Banjo to the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement Africa. Bunmi is the Head of Brand, Reputation and Digital Skills at Google Africa. Her passion for digital education for youth intersects with JA Africa’s strategy to improve digital literacy among Africa’s youth as a pathway to improve work readiness.

Bunmi is a dynamic business leader passionate about leveraging technology to grow Africa; a marketing and strategy professional with over 15 years of experience in N. America, Asia and Africa, she is currently responsible for Google’s Brand and Reputation in Africa and also leads the company’s effort to provide digital skills to millions youth across the continent. Since joining Google in 2012, Bunmi has helped hundreds of thousands of African entrepreneurs and business owners succeed online through training and support programs, and has led successful campaigns and initiatives including​ Africa Connected​ , a platform to celebrate digital success stories made in Africa. Prior to joining Google, Bunmi worked in different capacities in the financial services and petroleum industries including TD Bank Financial Group, Discover Financial Services and Chevron Corporation. An entrepreneur in her own right, she has also founded and co-founded a number of companies including The Keyline Group in Chicago, an advisory firm that  provided business consulting services to SMEs in Africa and Fezah, a live music app developed in Uganda. Bunmi is a key contributor to the Google Africa blog and has also been widely quoted by the media including Al Jazeera network, CNBC Africa, Financial Times, This Day, The Punch, and Guardian newspapers, and top blogs. Bunmi is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership. She holds an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA and a B.Sc. Hons. degree from the University of Toronto in Canada.
