CLIMBING THE CORPORATE LADDER: THABO QOAKO

Thabo Qoako (27) was born in Senekal in the Free State and travelled to Johannesburg in 1999 where he completed primary and secondary school. Through his good academic track record, Thabo had been elected to join a JA South Africa programme in 2006.

All the learnings and skills from the programme set a solid foundation for the business environment and today Thabo is the Group Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Specialist for MMI Holdings and has recently been appointed Guardrisk Representative on the SAIA Consumer Education Committee.

Outside the world of financial services, Thabo is also the owner and co-founder of T ’n B HSC Pty (Ltd), a start-up health and safety company, director and co-founder of Bopa Sechaba Foundation, an NPO aimed at building better societies through the schooling system, as well as shareholder and co-founder of The Wors, a start-up company selling food at various sports and lifestyle events.

In addition, Thabo is the Non-executive Director of Pure Hope Ministries, an educational ministry for disadvantaged children and Minister and Senior Leader of Word Alive Apostolic Church Soweto.

Apart from his career achievements, he is also studying towards a BCom Accounting Degree and is relentlessly pursuing a Chartered Accountant qualification.
